Reefer Containers : Rail DLS has the privilege of working with the specially designed Reefer Trains in South Africa in conjunction with its clients and together with TFR (Transnet Freight Rail) and TPT (Transnet Port Operations). We have fine tuned the rail service and turned it into a profitable and viable solution for our clients with maximum efficiency. Upon receiving Instructions we collect the empty reefers from the nominated depots and road haul it to the Bayhead Terminal or Pier1, where it is loaded onto a reefer train. The train is destined for Tzaneen, that’s where most of South Africa's citrus comes from. Containers are packed and reloaded onto the reefer train and it departs for Durban. The reefer train is equipped with a genset that has a 3phase power and also with a reefer technician on board the train to ensure that all is well with the reefer containers. The train is finally placed at Pier1 to discharge. Containers for Maydon Wharf or point is road hauled from Pier1 to meet with the vessel stacks. All documentation is framed and processed and all containers are pre-advised accordingly. The reefer rail service is available in Durban during the Citrus season.
